Home Blog LUNG FORCE Walk Recap

It's been two months since the Oxygen One team participated in the 5th annual LUNG FORCE Walk, and we realized we never gave you an official update on the day of the event.

LUNG FORCE Event Recap

Overall, there were around 1,500 people in attendance, with 121 teams. The walk was only a mile and a half, but since it was at the zoo we were often distracted by the animals. Surprisingly, they were all outside and showing off. The LUNG FORCE raised $95,000 total for the event.

Oxygen One 2018 Team Stats

  • We had 32 walkers
  • 26 donors
  • and raised $2,224.34 from our team fundraising (good job, team!)

LUNG FORCE Makes an Impact

  • $.86 of each dollar donated goes directly to funding ALA mission programs and services
  • $33 donation: for the 33+ million Americans who suffer from chronic lung disease
  • 659,400 Wisconsinites are affected by lung disease
  • $150 donation: provides 10 Americans with lung health and tobacco cessation support through the American Lung Association Lung Helpline
  • $1,000 donation: for the more than 1,000 Americans who die each day from lung disease. Supports one Freedom From Smoking Community Cessation Clinic
  • $5,000 donation: supports one Better Breathers Club for one year
  • The American Lung Association invested $6.5 Million in the past year to support research into lung cancer - the #1 cancer killer of men and women

The American Lung Association did a great job with the event, and Oxygen One was thrilled to be a part of it!

A few months back we had a blog post detailing how we raised funds for the big day. You can check it out here

If you didn't get to participate this year, no worries! Next year the LUNG FORCE Walk will be held on either September 29 or October 6, 2019, at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
